MMUF PhD Jericho Brown has been awarded the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for his 2019 book The Tradition, which was previously a finalist for the National Book Award. Dr. Brown, who was selected as an MMUF fellow at Dillard University, earned his PhD in creative writing and English from the University of Houston and is currently an associate professor of English and director of the creative writing program at Emory University. His previous volumes of poetry are Please (2008), which began as his doctoral project, and The New Testament (2014).
