MMUF Director Armando Bengochea's opinion piece on the critical importance of intentionality in institutional efforts to hire diverse faculty is currently featured in Diverse Issues in Higher Education. The piece highlights PhD pipeline programs, including the MMUF program, and institution-level undergraduate research opportunities as potential best practices for enlarging the pool of underrepresented minority students in PhD programs who will, with strategic recruitment efforts by colleges and universities, go on to diversify college and university faculties.
To assist institutions in their efforts to hire diverse faculty, the Foundation has recently launched the MMUF Search Tool for Fellows on the Job Market, which will list MMUF fellows who are enrolled in the fifth year or beyond of their PhD programs and fellows who have earned PhDs within the last three years. Fellows who would like to list their information in the Search Tool, and faculty requesting access to the Search Tool for departmental searches, may contact Liz Foley.
